hollysworld chapter 01 is a manifest of going through your mum's wardrobe and throwing an outfit together that you thought looked 'girly' and 'ladylike'. Nostalgic bedsheets, garment silhouettes and accessories clash with feminine satins and lace lingerie detailing. Big knickers stretch through garments, influenced by 1980s images of bridesmaids with their knickers accidentally tucked into their dresses. Providing, nuances of looseness and haphazardness when dressing up in our youth. “The brand forms visual cues from vintage garment details and silhouettes with a reference to subject matters of modern day ‘Girlie Girl Culture’. Rebellious attitudes to control establish within the detailed chaos through forms of soft romantic nostalgia. The hollysworld girl doesn’t take adult life too seriously, she would happily stomp around in pink ruffles whilst completing mundane household tasks.”

LOOK 1 ‘𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒷𝒾𝑔 𝓅𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝒹𝓇𝑒𝓈𝓈’ : Children’s bedsheets clash with feminine satin ties, lace and lingerie elements. The big knickers stretch through the bloomer style pants onto the shoulder. Of course, I cannot forget the poodle bag, a staple element of your childhood wardrobe.

Bunny organza print blouse with lingerie ruched picot detailing and satin shirred sleeves. Jersey rose print knickers layer over the top of the blouse to generate tight gathers in the body. The trousers have knickers cut into the waistline that are pulled up high, to create a ‘knickers tucked in effect’ inspired by 1980s bridesmaids. The trousers are quilted by myself with x2 pvc windows and bedsheet curtains.

The drape dress is a classic feminine silhouette of a satin nightdress. Each panel is ruched together by picot lingerie elastic, allowing elements to reconsile and form to different body shapes. Small white satin knickers layer over the dress to create a ‘knickers tucked in’ effect inspired by the photos of 1980’s bridesmaids. Other aspects of lingerie such as the layered pink satin bra represent dressing up as a child and picking components from your mums wardrobe that are believed to be ‘girly’ and ladylike. The dress is finished with vintage sourced lace trimmings and paired with hollysworld nylon bedsheet print tights, beaded shirred gloves and beaded picot socks.

Bloomer Jumpsuit inspired from the classic bloomer pant shape and enlarged into a humorous jumpsuit form. Bedsheet print children’s fabric contrasts with feminine satin whilst elastic ruches around the shoulders with lingerie lace trim detailing. Giant print knickers are appliqued onto the trouser creating a ‘knickers’ on show effect.
